Naamu verweeft op meesterlijke wijze stijlen zoals wassoulou en gnawa met jazz en groovemuziek, wat resulteert in een unieke sound die ze zelf omschrijven als ‘Malinke Groove Jazz’.
De setting van dit concert biedt zitplaatsen alsook een dansvloer.
In 2023 bracht Teun Creemers het baanbrekende en gelijknamige album Naamu uit, waarvoor hij samenwerkte met een diverse groep Nederlandse jazzmusici en West-Afrikaanse artiesten, waaronder de gerenommeerde kamale n’goni-speler Harouna Samake en zangeres Kankou Kouyaté. Het album werd opgenomen in studio’s in Nederland, Mali, de Verenigde Staten en Frankrijk en kreeg wereldwijd lovende recensies in media zoals Songlines en Jazzism. Naamu werd in 2023 genomineerd voor de prestigieuze Edison Prijs in de categorie Global.

In 2024 tourde Naamu met de Malinese vocalisten Kankou Kouyaté, Aminata Dante en Yacouba Sagara langs toonaangevende podia en festivals in Nederland, Duitsland en België. Deze bijzondere line-up werd enthousiast onthaald en ontving lovende recensies. Nu is de band weer op tournee met opnieuw de fantastische Malinese zangeres Kankou Kouyaté en de wereldberoemde meesterbalafonist Mamadou Diabate uit Burkina Faso (Mamadou zal er in Culemborg niet bij kunnen zijn).
Deze unieke muzikale samenwerking tussen enkele van de beste muzikanten uit Nederland en West-Afrika bestaat daarmee uit een achtkoppige bezetting van drums, percussie, kamale n’goni, saxofoon, gitaar, basgitaar en zang. Samen creëren ze een geluid dat zowel puur als krachtig is en de energie en ziel van het album weerspiegelt.

In 2023, Teun Creemers released the groundbreaking and eponymous album Naamu, for which he collaborated with a diverse group of Dutch jazz musicians and West African artists, including renowned kamale n’goni player Harouna Samake and singer Kankou Kouyaté. In 2024, Naamu toured with Malian vocalists Kankou Kouyaté, Aminata Dante and Yacouba Sagara along leading venues and festivals in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. This special line-up was enthusiastically received and received rave reviews. Now the band is back on tour with once again the fantastic Malian singer Kankou Kouyaté and world-renowned master balafonist Mamadou Diabate from Burkina Faso.
This unique musical collaboration between some of the best musicians from the Netherlands and West Africa thus comprises an eight-piece line-up of drums, percussion, kamale n’goni, saxophone, guitar, bass guitar, balaphone and vocals. Together, they create a sound that is both pure and powerful, reflecting the energy and soul of the album.

En 2024, Naamu a effectué une tournée avec les chanteurs maliens Kankou Kouyaté, Aminata Dante et Yacouba Sagara dans les principales salles et festivals des Pays-Bas, d’Allemagne et de Belgique. Aujourd’hui, le groupe est de nouveau en tournée avec la fantastique chanteuse malienne Kankou Kouyaté et le maître balafoniste de renommée mondiale Mamadou Diabate, du Burkina Faso ( pas présent à Culemborg).
Cette collaboration musicale unique entre quelques-uns des meilleurs musiciens des Pays-Bas et d’Afrique de l’Ouest se compose de huit musiciens : batterie, percussions, kamale n’goni, saxophone, guitare, guitare basse, balafon et chant. Ensemble, ils créent un son à la fois pur et puissant, qui reflète l’énergie et l’âme de l’album.
